The one pot reaction was carried out in Ethanol including cyanoacetohydrazide, essential oil, and malononitrile. The reaction mixture was catalysed by potassium carbonate. In the present work, two new compounds of highly functionalized 2-pyridones were obtained as privileged medicinal scaffolds.
