Zermane H, Mouss H-L, Oulmi T, Hemal S. New fuzzy-Based Process Control System for a bag filter of a cement factory. 6th International Conference on Systems and Control (ICSC) [Internet]. 2017. Publisher's VersionAbstract

During the last years, in industrial process control, requirements for Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) have increased significantly. Most plants are investing in CEM systems in order to burn waste, obtain ISO 14000 and 18001 certification to protect operator's life. In this work, our approach describes development of a novel internet and fuzzy-based CEM system (IFCEMS). This system contains operator's stations for the bag filter's automation system and monitored using Internet. The object of the present installation consists of a suction ventilator, a bag filter and a system for collecting and evacuating the dust. To optimize the running of the bag filter workshop and ensure continuous control, the process based on one of the most powerful Artificial Intelligence techniques which is fuzzy logic involves the removal or filtration of smoke from the kiln and/or cement mill with control of temperature and pressure of the fumes.

In this paper, we propose a vector control of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) for variable speed wind power generation. The model is developed based on the dual powered generator for the control of the active and reactive powers. Several studies are carried out to test their operation under different wind conditions. The results have shown good performances of the wind energy converter system operate under wind variations with indirect vector control strategies.

Mounir A, Sellami D, Naceri F. Analysis of Wireless Data Transmission for the Site Survey of Telemetry Systems Projects. Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference, November [Internet]. 2017. Publisher's VersionAbstract

This paper aim is to propose a radio transmission analysing method for the site survey of telemetry systems (e.g., SCADA: Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition), these systems are usually used to supervise remote process installations in large oil and gas fields. This method is presented over a software design and development which includes all radio propagation data and calculations, needed during the technical site survey phase of a telemetry system project execution. The approach is applied for the acquisition, control and online modeling of an oil collection pipeline network using a SCADA system.

The designed software we named "SCADA Radio Transmission," is to perform the radio propagation analysis. By introducing data (topographic coordinates, obstacles heights and characteristics data of the transmission equipment) it allows calculation of towers heights that ensure good radio clearance (Fresnel Zone), plot of the radio transmission link and to visulize results of the radio link budget. Complete calculations equations of this software are provided with detailed radio propagation analysis sample results of the studied oil collection pipeline network, to permit more comprehension for readers. The designed software role is to:

  • determine the correct height of the towers by inserting the topographical data of the field, thus providing a radio clearance of the Fresnel first ellipsoid;

  • Draw up, for the established link, a link budget including the received signal power as well as the margin against the reception threshold;

  • In addition, this software allows the adjustment of the pylons heights in order to rectify any diffraction, due to bad visibility hop.

A case study application of this software is presented for the data acquisition, control and online modeling of an oil collection pipeline network at Hassi Messaoud oilfield.

Naima Z, Samia A, Mouss M-D, Yaha A. Automatic text summarization: A review. EKNOW 2017 International Conference on Information, Process, and Knowledge Management [Internet]. 2017. Publisher's VersionAbstract

As we move into the 21st century, with very rapid mobile communication and access to vast stores of information, we seem to be surrounded by more and more information, with less and less time or ability to digest it. The creation of the automatic summarization was really a genius human solution to solve this complicated problem. However, the application of this solution was too complex. In reality, there are many problems that need to be addressed before the promises of automatic text summarization can be fully realized. Basically, it is necessary to understand how humans summarize the text and then build the system based on that. Yet, individuals are so different in their thinking and interpretation that it is hard to create "gold-standard" summary against which output summaries will be evaluated. In this paper, we will discuss the basic concepts of this topic by giving the most relevant definitions, characterizations, types and the two different approaches of automatic text summarization: extraction and abstraction. Special attention is devoted to the extractive approach. It consists of selecting important sentences and paragraphs from the original text and concatenating them into shorter form. Broadly, the importance of sentences is decided based on statistical features of sentences. This approach avoids any efforts on deep text understanding. It is conceptually simple and easy to implement. KeywordsText summarization; Automatic text summarization; Abstractive approach; Extractive approach; Natural language processing.

The interest shown by some community of researchers to autonomous drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) has increased with the advent of wireless communication networks. These networks allow UAVs to cooperate more efficiently in an ad hoc manner in order to achieve specific tasks in specific environments. To do so, each drone navigates autonomously while staying connected with other nodes in its group via radio links. This connectivity can deliberately be maintained for a while constraining the mobility of the drones. This will be suitable for the drones involved in a given path of a given transmission between a source and a destination. This constraint could be removed at the end of the transmission process and the mobility of each concerned drone becomes again independent from the others. In this work, we have proposed a bio-inspired routing protocol for UAVs called BR- AODV. The protocol takes advantage of a well known ad hoc routing protocol for on-demand route computation, and the Boids of Reynolds mechanism for connectivity and route maintaining while data is being transmitted. The performances of BR-AODV were evaluated and compared to those of classical AODV routing protocol and the results show that BR-AODV outperforms AODV in terms of delay, throughput and packet loss.
